Report: SAP Inspire for PLM 2022

Everything about the lecture by .riess engineering on the integration of PTC solutions and SAP

SAP Inspire for PLM - With innovative solutions for sustainable products

With the motto "New year, new ideas!", the event known in recent years as the SAP PLM Info days started under a new name: SAP Inspire for PLM.

The virtual SAP event series from April 18 to May 19, 2022 spanned four dates with different areas of focus. On all days of the event, the core idea of connecting PLM and sustainability was put in the foreground.

All roads lead to PLM - follow this path together with .riess engineering

With the presentation "Integration of PTC solutions and SAP: All roads lead to PLM", Denis Gierich, Innovation & Business Development at riess engineering, showed the two ways of integrating engineering data into SAP. He presented the two SAP price list products developed by .riess engineering, SAP Engineering Control Center interface to PTC Creo and SAP product data management integration to PTC Windchill.

The right PLM solution for your company depends heavily on the requirements for processes and structures. There is no right or wrong “path to PLM”. Depending on your "PLM Big Picture" goal and the processes and solutions that you are currently using or want to introduce in the future, there may be several suitable ways. Whichever path you choose, the goal is always the same. No matter what you decide, .riess engineering will accompany you on the way.

In a short overview, the two integration paths were then presented one after the other:

Direct integration of PTC Creo Parametric into SAP PLM:
SAP Engineering Control Center interface to PTC Creo

With the direct integration of PTC Creo Parametric into SAP via the SAP Engineering Control Center, the management of your CAD data is fully integrated into SAP PLM.

An important part of SAP PLM is the availability of high-performance integrations of CAx systems that allow full control over the management of models, drawings and structures directly in SAP PLM. This is made possible by the direct and homogeneous integration of PTC Creo Parametric into SAP PLM without the need for a separate PDM system.

Seamless integration of PTC Windchill and SAP:
SAP product data management integration to PTC Windchill

Overcome system boundaries and fully integrate PTC Windchill and SAP into your company's PLM strategy. An automated exchange of development data and the seamless integration of CAD and PLM development processes in SAP S/4HANA are made possible.

When two systems are connected, the question of which system is the leading one always comes up. With this solution, however, you do not have to make this global decision, since the leading system can be determined for each sub-process individually. This approach to processes opens the door for you to use the best of both worlds. You have full control over the depth and functionality of the integration of PTC Windchill with SAP ERP.

.riess engineering is your guide

The presentation ended with a comparison of the two solutions in order to give customers and interested parties a guide for deciding on their end-to-end PLM process.

Of course, we are happy to support you in jointly analyzing the way to a solution and working out your own personal solution landscape. This means real end-to-end PLM becomes reality for you too.
